In the year 3000, man is no match for the Psychlo's, a greedy, manipulative race of aliens on a quest for ultimate profit. Led by the seductive and powerful Terl (Travolta), the Psychlo's are stripping Earth clean of its natural resources, using the broken remnants of humanity as slaves. What is left of the human race has descended into a near primitive state, believing the invaders to be demons and technology to be evil. After humanity has all but given up any hope of freeing themselves from alien oppression, a young man named Tyler (Pepper) decides to leave his desolate home high in the Rocky Mountains to discover the truth, whereupon he is captured and enslaved. It is then that he decides to fight back, leading his fellow man in one final struggle for freedom.

I loved this movie. I thought it was great. Maybe not the best Battlefield Earth: A Saga of the Year 3000 Sci-Fi movie of the story, but cared for the characters and I really had a good time. I know that the act is not good, I know that the plot has some inconsistencies, but people are not exaggerating? 2.3/10 is the average? I have seen worse movies that get more than 6 / 10! It really makes no sense that the average why is it so low.

Travolta and Forest Whitaker put on a great show as the evil aliens. The special effects are first rate and I liked how the language changes were made. I also liked the avoidance of the horrible blood sample. I think this Battlefield Earth: A Saga of the Year 3000 Sci-Fi movie has a high potential for an eventual worship.

I read the book in the late 80's and LOVED it! There was a claim on the cover says "very soon as a great movie!" I was so excited about a Battlefield Earth: A Saga of the Year 3000 Sci-Fi movie that is based on that book. And finally came in 2000! Please do not blame L. Ron Hubbard for the film. I'm no Scientologist, and not subscribe to his philosophy, but his science fiction novels are wonderful! No, it's not a great film, but certainly enjoyed it. NO is one of the 100 worst films ever made. I think the problem was a squishing about 1,000 pages, a novel in two hours of film. They made a lot of corners! Secondly, I was not at all satisfied with Barry Pepper as Jonnie. He does not have to drive (at least not for this film) and its image not only do justice to the character of the original novel. I highly suggest reading the book, then watch the Battlefield Earth: A Saga of the Year 3000 movie again!
