Bob Lee Swagger, one of the world's great marksmen and the son of a Congressional Medal of Honoree, is a loner living in the Rockies. He's left the military, having been hung out to dry in a secret Ethiopian mission a few years before, when he's recruited by a lisping colonel to help find a way that the President of the US might be assassinated in one of three cities in the next two weeks. He does his work, but the shot is fired notwithstanding and Bob Lee is quickly the fall guy: wounded and hunted by thousands, he goes to ground and, aided by two unlikely allies, searches for the truth and for those who double-crossed him. All roads lead back to Ethiopia.

I thought this might be an exciting film: Shooter ... I did not expect to be filled with Bush-attack. Do we really need Hollywood to define our policy? I guess they think so. They assume that everyone knows that Bush lied about weapons of mass destruction. Right. The performance is quite good and reasonable argument. If one could only avoid the policy, this would have been a better movie. I do not know what Walberg politics, but now we know that Glover faces a communist Venezuela, and it is obvious why we would like to be part of a Shooter Drama film like this. I suppose that from now on, I just need to check that it is in the Shooter movie ... see "Danny Glover" and I suspect that is more policy-your-way. Fortunately, I've seen this on a transatlantic flight so they do not cost me money. Just wasted my time.

I had the opportunity to catch an advance screening of this DivX film Shooter the other day. Similarities with other projects aside, I was impressed by the use of some new military technologies involved. The Shooter movie is both interesting and entertaining, and Mark Wahlberg did a very good job of portraying nature in all its idiosyncrasies. It's good to see Danny Glover again as I have not had the opportunity to view the films of any late. His character was not exactly multidimensional but I guess that is what the letter calls, and certainly different from the one he represents in the "Lethal Weapon" series, not much comedy here. Now if only I could get a hold of the script ... Needless to say, my wife and I liked the DivX film Shooter and certainly recommend going to see it.
