| I have seen this "adaptation" in Isaac Asimov's book and found it to be the worst case of "free artist" that never existed - more like "Artist decapitation. This movie: I, Robot destroys Asimov 50 years of work and is a disgrace to the DivX film I, Robot industry. Century 20 thinks that it can only make a dollar for the special effects - if you want to use some cheap piece of writing. I, Robot (the book) can not be action pack but it has the possibility great DivX Movie I, Robot (one day - by someone who as a true artist of vision and freedom of expression). I, Robot could have been made to explore the characters and the setting of the book. People went to see The Truman Show, Bicentennial Man, Saving Private Ryan, Notting Hill, as well as films like The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars. I, Robot is similar in some ways to reference previous films (although some very small ) - My point is that a real writer and filmmaker who has tried this combination may have great special effects with great stories, characters and actors. It would have been a challenge, but I would have shown great creativity and skill - not some 5cent extract of a man with great vision that inspired thousands of people - including some that have created real robots and entered the field of science because of their dreams and ideas of the future. If this is how Hollywood treats a great idea you actually feel sorry for future movies. |
| What a movie. This is certainly no doubt a contender for I, Robot Mystery of the year, and will undoubtedly be unforgettable for many years. It is rare to find a big event DVD film I, Robot like this, with major celebrities like Will Smith in the lead, based on a classic story, and still relevant and something touching. The story is the drive behind this movie, with effects never free. In fact, the plot is very complex, much more than they would have thought beforehand. It plays like a dream, a very satisfactory conclusion. Will Smith as Detective Del Spooner actually played on his well-documented easy comedy, and there were several scenes were the player came to the surface. The element of surprise Spooner's robotic arm performed very well in the context of history, and was handled beautifully. Bridget Moynahan was perfectly cast against Smith, with his character goes through a subtle transformation from start to finish I was very impressed. I was also very pleased to see that the cliché of a possible relationship between the two was averted. James Cromwell, a favorite of mine, they respond well, and I was happy to see him play an integral role. In terms of effects, this DVD film I, Robot is easily the best effects seen for a long time. The level of detail is very impressive, and it is the realism of the story greatly. All this added together to create a truly stunning film. 10 of 10. |
| Spoilers here. Someday, probably soon, we will be openly offended - revolt - when the special effects are used to paper over weaknesses multidimensional. Some day, probably very far away, I refuse to see the famous assault on the place of the actors. One day we will have more stories than that. With all due respect, although this movie: I, Robot has little to do with Asimov, Asimov stories were not very well developed, or even intelligent. And this movie: I, Robot has two fakeouts, first then Sonny Robertson. But it is still mechanical. And we can never escape the notion of rogue Hal? (And the girl scientist?) Philip K Dick had the best one of these, I think, Valise. The idea may be clever, as in 'Forbidden Planet', where the "brain" literally creates memories and reality.
