I was very impressed by this movie. I felt the topic of Altzheimer was handled in a dignified and loving way that mercifully avoiding sentimentality, as ultimately this is a film: Away from Her about people with their lives - Marian and Grant movement as a whole, and Grant returned Aubrey andalusia place and person, Fiona, which together make him happy while providing the opportunity for a recovery period Fiona. Julie Christie was luminescent, with those wonderful eyes of her speaking more joy and pain as the words and her memory. It is also a real pleasure to see Olympia Dukakis typically achieve much without saying much at all. The focus of the film, which was gradually reduced, mimicking a feature of the disease. This Away from Her Romance film makes sure that no one see that learning more about the disease that is at the center of the movie: Away from Her and see some fans of the exchange between different people in history. I hope this Away from Her Romance film wins at least a few prizes, and they deserve to be rewarded by the pleasure of seeing action there on the screen - small movements, no big gestures, or even the wonders of CGI, which can be wonderful. No, here is the sound, Acting deep - all the more welcome because it is something that may overlap with many other things in many other films. |
All about Julie Christie is different, it always was. Therefore, it should not come as a surprise that it has hired his age as a great ally. To say that she shines, and she is as beautiful as always seems stupid and banal, but the fact is shining and she is as beautiful as ever. Then, as an actress, she continues to grow and surprise us. The idea of losing the memory is a devastating blow and see the consciousness in the face of Julie Christie made doubly so. Better understand the disease, I feel closer to their patients. It is extraordinary that the people of my generation - I was born in 1958 - Julie Christie was a kind of symbol. To see the new generation fall in love with her and not only in age but, in his new movie, is the most wonderful reassuring feeling in the world. |
Unlike almost everyone here, I do not like or admire this film. I thought it was pretentious, unrealistic, rigid and uncomfortable. Yes, Julie Christie was impossible with great self-conscious material, but that does not help much. The characters feel like cardboard creatures there to make a point. We do not even know what their marriage was like, the only exception that it matters - that's all. As the daughter of a woman hospitalized with Alzheimer's for ten years until his death, I can tell you from observing my mother and everyone around you that there are too many false notes to fool even detail. Only one, the idea that women are now so advanced that it is putting pans in the freezer, but has the language and cognitive skills to say "All we can aspire to is the grace and dignity" is beyond the ridiculous. No DivX Movie Away from Her I've seen, it included, has the courage to show what actually happens - the loss of thought, language, personality, desire to shower and dress, the insistent repetition or cursing or anger, etc. is not ta nice like glamorized here as if you need a warm fuzzy glow ( "Let's make love before you leave!") along fog. What really infuriates me is the over-praised at all because it's so "beautiful." |
The fact that Fiona - the "it" in the title - is played by Julie Christie makes the painful journey of crystal clear. Julie Christie is wonderful. She manages to us, without sentimentality, but with an intelligence that makes the point in the deeply human story, to approach the disease, but sadly, without fear. Alzheimer's is like a dark tunnel that inadvertently enter the bereaved, unable to avoid it. I asked what it was like being aware of it, I mean, knowing that sooner or later forget about everything and everyone. Sarah Polley, the director, does a little miracle that gives us Julie Christie to answer that question. I felt very close to Fiona's husband - a magnificent performance by Gordon Pinsent - and came out of the experience rather than high depressed. |
