| A very moving, beautifully made film. As I have not read the book, I am unable to compare the two. But the DVD movie How to Make an American Quilt is enough: the acting is wonderful, but we have only fragments of every actress / actor. The message is wonderful and the soundtrack is just as poignant. I would recommend to anyone in love, or making a decision about love. Inspiration abounds in this How to Make an American Quilt Romance about a young woman to be married and in the process of building a house with her boyfriend. As she has the summer off to write a thesis and stay with his grandmother and Great Aunt is in the middle of making a quilt for her wedding. Is also a very attractive young man, the temptation to cheat. What follows are stories told by and about each of the women in the quilting circle. The young woman discovers that love is not perfect, and that you should take advantage of what you have, and that there is beauty in the familiar. |
