| an interesting adaptation of the work, of course, there is much lost in translation (pace etc), but the results are particularly brilliant that I think Chazz Palminteri gives his best performance ever as a violent Phil talentless aspiring actor who is desperately seeking a sense their lives in the city of LA soul. Penn is also good that the slimeball with the heart of ... a little less quality material limo. As Phil is increasingly disenchanted with life. All characters seem to have a problem with cocaine and the inability to love. (there is a correlation?) Kevin Spacey is fun as he and Meg Ryan is not surprising that "she" as usual as a single mother fading party girl fellatio on celebrities in moving vehicles ... crazy. the film: Hurlyburly is a large body of experience and there are a million great moments that require multiple displays. |

| This is about 4 friends in Hollywood have been drugged up talks on various topics. I've seen the first 20 minutes of this DVD film Hurlyburly 18 months ago and could not stand what he was switched. I decided to give it another chance today. Fortunately, I think this Hurlyburly movie is not as bad as I thought. This film: Hurlyburly is full of witty dialogue. Sean Penn is the nature of jealousy is well portrayed. I also like Kevin Spacey's intellectual image and cool. The Hurlyburly film is interesting, but there are some dull moments. It reminds me of another Hurlyburly movie Kevin Spacey of "The Big Kahuna," which is dialogue heavy. I think "The Big Kahuna" is better because it has a central plot. |
| I remember watching Sean Penn climb to the podium to accept his best actor for his Academy Award (in my opinion) and some decent role in Mystic River, and I thought the award was more of an achievement of his body in the workplace for the film. Its role in Hurlyburly is much more impressive than the gangster spoke in Grand Jersey Clint emotional cascade of a movie. I've always been a fan since Hurlyburly see a large version of that for the first time on UPN, mostly for his performances in writing and acting. The whole thing is wonderful - Penn, Spacey, Palminteri and especially - and the writing is clear and credible, although I have never met or been exposed to someone close to the characters as those shown in the film. The low score on IMDb, I was surprised, but maybe I can see why most people either do not like or are rather indifferent about the film. The movie: Hurlyburly making is not breaking ground by any means, but the content and exuded passion of the players involved are among other films that are highly dependent on idiosyncratic and interesting dialogue. I'd like to see the stage version Rabe to see how the nails that - because the Hurlyburly movie is a treat for anyone who enjoys a dose of something a bit out of rhythm and different. |
