In 1989, Nino Brown, a small time drug dealer, is convinced by one of his fellow thugs that the wave of the future is in the cocaine derivative, crack. Brown sees potential in crack and sets out to establish himself as chief kingpin by killing off his rivals and even going as far as to take over a whole apartment complex. Out to stop him are undercover cops Scottie Appleton and Nick Paretti. Appleton especially wants to get Nino because of the fact that he murdered Scottie's mother as part of a gang initiaton. Also involved is Pookie, a former crackhead who wants to bring down Nino as well.

In one of the most patriarchal roles from Brando in The Godfather, Wesley Snipes surprised and overwhelmed as the "godfather" in this film, directed and co-starring Mario Van Peebles. Snipes, however is where the strength of the DVD movie New Jack City lies. Your boss has no remorse. No heart. Nobody. All you have is your power and want more. The New Jack City Crime film has a fast pace. The cast is quite good, including Ice-T as a cop on the inside to try to tear down Snipes' drug lord. Judd Nelson is dark and sardonic as Ice-T's main opposition on the case.

As British television is so bad at this time I am seeing again many of my DVD. Dig this. Wesley Snipes is a very underrated actor like Laurence Fishburne peers. He is excellent in this, and as reported by another user, you can see on the stage of proof that his character is not the fool head that seems to be simply an error. Has a good cast. I dug the New Jack City film to see Judd Nelson's performance as I return again to see the Breakfast Club and wanted to compare. I can not remember who led NJC but it is very reminiscent of a Spike Lee New Jack City movie and just as hard hitting. Is as relevant today as it was in 1991 in fact more relevant here in Manchester, United Kingdom, as we have seen in the last 7 years of serious divisions within the black community.
