Truman Capote wrote the 'non-fiction novel' from which the film is drawn, using the novelist's craft to render reality. The reality was that at two a.m. on November 15, 1959 in the rural town of Holcomb, Kansas, the four members of the Clutter family were roused from their sleep, bound and gagged, and then brutally murdered by two unknown assailants. After the latters' capture, sentencing and imprisonment prior to execution, Capote researched the case thoroughly, spent weeks talking with the prisoners, Perry Smith and Richard Hickock, jurors, police, friends and neighbors, trying to unearth why such a senseless act was committed, and what society's response might have been.

I just saw this In Cold Blood movie again and it's a masterpiece, after nearly 40 years. Robert Blake and Scott Wilson, in his greatest on-screen performances of two cold-blooded murderers who killed a family of 4 for a mere $ 40. Filmed in black and white, the In Cold Blood film is brutal, disturbing, raw and in its representation of this violent and senseless act. There are no heroics or wild pursuing police, only a realistic look at the crime scene, taking, executions, and that inspired the award-winning novel by Truman Capote, In Cold Blood. The murders of the family are the most brutal in the In Cold Blood Crime history, but avoids bloodbath so common in today's pictures. It is the folly of all this is so disturbing. Highlights the actions of the entire cast. In Cold Blood is a masterpiece.
I was a senior in high school in 1967, when I read an article in the May issue of the magazine about life in cold blood. On the cover was a picture of Robert Blake, Scott Wilson and Truman Capote. The background is a barren wheat field in Kansas. I can remember to this day reading about how the In Cold Blood film was made in the house that the murders occurred, and even the horse Nancy disorder was used in the film. Article comparisons showed life of actors and real people. When the DivX film In Cold Blood was released, I could not wait to go see it. This In Cold Blood Crime film is as disturbing today as it was in 1968.I have seen many times the cold-blooded and probably many more times ......... one of my favorite movies of all time .... ........ When Robert Blake was going through the trial for the murder of his wife, could not help but think about his role in this DVD film In Cold Blood ..........
Sorry, I do not have much time to write. I am not a psychologist, but have known for 25 years. She said Scott Wilson portrayed a sociopath (no conscience) extremely well. I agree! Robert Blake also said that portrays a person with anger and impulse control that he had a conscience, but can not control himself excellent. I agree! What a great In Cold Blood film and cooling. I have seen over 2,000 films and that this rank in the top 100. My lifelong friend is dealing with clients with such regularity. My only criticism is the preachy narration at the end of the film. Many people grow up in less than ideal circumstances, but only one in a million will be made as these 2 losers.
I saw this in the theater during its initial release is disturbing, then I am sure that would remain. It was the first part of this is 68 and still doing the rounds in towns across America and recently had been a mass murder in my hometown, where I saw a man when he was in a shooting rampage. The freshness of that close to homes in conjunction with this event dramatized true story of a very unsettling theatrical experience. Really brought to life outside the Robert Blake and Scott Wilson. I was familiar with the novel based on the true case of Truman Capote and written and directed by Richard Brooks wove the case of Truman and interpretations in the In Cold Blood Crime film adaptation convincingly gritty. Music by Quincy Jones effectively results is history. I have only seen a couple of times since then. It is too real. Almost like a witness to the crime itself and mount along with the murderers. I give this a 9.0 of a possible 10. Society is so insensitive to violence and crime today, it seems likely that this slow and gentle and could be considered with a lesser effect, but anyone over 50 this will be a milestone in the review of the criminal psyche.
