| This was a waste of 3 hours. I am glad not to see it in the theater. Terrible! Frogs? |
| An avid DVD film Magnolia buff who is a devout fan of PT Anderson recommends this film. Falls into distress, shock-a-rama, "to explore the dark underbelly of capitalism," surreal, outrageously provocative ... blah, blah, blah ... category, which was totally expected. Life in the San Fernando Valley form the backdrop for many movies including this Andersons. Tumble us through the vagaries of life without love, without risk to the rewards, fame, and other nameless evils in the lives of thousands of characters. Drug abuse, child sexual abuse, the father-son drama, wife-cheating ... you and your name there. Episodic rants aside, the story is very different from the petals of a flower in bloom. The phenomenon occurs, are seeking closure with her dying father, a cop who falls for a junkie that rescues, TV host with a sordid past, intertwined with an ex-winner who is now a complete loser. These are not your everyday Joe, Emily and Harry in the hood. Critics, of course, love for example above the upper cynical fare, especially if he puts all five fingers of fat in your eyes. But its only entertainment and a little less boring, irritating background score with * several * times in a ringing ears. |
| This DivX Movie Magnolia was a monumental waste of time. I feel much Dumber for having seen it. All I could think, walk outside the theater was: "I want three hours of my life." Tom Cruise was uncharacteristically awful in his role, and the only likeable character was the nurse, played by Phillip Seymour Hoffman. The only part of this movie: Magnolia is worth seeing the first 5 minutes or so, which deals with the interesting coincidences of life, as the man who jumps off a building to kill himself and, like his own window, accidentally shot his mother, who is firing a gun that he loaded. This is the only part of the movie: Magnolia is at all intellectually stimulating. Unfortunately, despite being an excellent start of what could have been a great movie, there is no monitoring, and not in the real sense of the Magnolia movie with the concept established in the beginning. Do not waste your time on this pile of bad acting steam and poorly written. |
| Sorry, but as I write this, the voters have ranked as the # 103 movies of all time. It's just not good. In fact, even I like. A lot of great actors deliver some great performances, but the Magnolia film is just around the map that does not seem to know what you're trying to say. And as an unbreakable rule (that keep breaking the heads of the poor), if a Magnolia film is going to be more than 3 hours in duration, it is best to be as good as Citizen Kane (in the clock in just under 2 hours). At least one long DVD film Magnolia like 'Heat' is an action thriller. This is a message of the film. And a message of the film, without a clear message, is a bad movie. |
| More than three hours and not pass a value of these characters are dying or going through any life-changing epiphony. After a few agonizing hours to see that bad people just bad decisions that will bring more pain and unhappiness in the world, frogs fall from the sky. I really do not, a lot of frogs, frog intestine filled with heavy rain in the frame and the characters seem to think that this sort of thing is perfectly normal. At first I do not get this movie, my pretentious movie: Magnolia aficionado friends convinced me to take another look more open minded. Now I understand that the best DivX Movie Magnolia I stand by my initial assessment that it was a painful loss of my time. |
| MAGNOLIA is a heavenly slice of cinema. Paul Thomas Anderson of Boogie Nights fame makes it even more compelling and revealing its role in two previous outings. Adeptly He drives a day in the life of a dozen people apparently disconnected. Not only turn the stories wonderfully together, but said some of the best performances of a large production studio in a long time. Tom Cruise gives a jolting, raw, heartbreaking, and ultimately the performance as a chauvinist sex guru. It is undoubtedly his best performance, and they deserve the best actor Oscar. John C. Reilly continues to shine in films such as Anderson's God-fearing, love-hungry police officer who provides the Magnolia film with his emotional balance. Last but not least, relatively unknown Melora Walters offers a raw and emotionally powerful performance as a heroin addict trying to cope with the guilt and shame of the secrets of her family. She is what gives the Magnolia Drama film its emotional impact. This is not really a Magnolia Drama film for children or casual cinema. However, for anyone interested in serious cinema and high-level acting, Magnolia is a masterpiece for the eyes. With wonderful songs along music by Aimee Mann and more strange and exciting conclusion to the plot never seen on screen, MAGNOLIA finally reveals itself to expose humanity at its most naked and exposed the state and to find redemption for the fans who have never loved anyone. " |
