| This is not a movie, deeper aspects of the plot is rather predictable and "tried and true" but served well and made some interesting points about what might regret (our "mistakes" as he calls the movie) look like back on our lives. I had not read the book, so I did not know much other than it was the story of a dying woman who has strong memories of long ago has not shared with anyone. Fortunately he has a cast of high-level .... Meryl Streep's daughter, Mamie Gummer plays the young Lila, and Meryl at the end of the DivX film Evening as the former Lila ... plus a similar amazing (duh!) The young actress has done a great job (maybe not much to his mother's caliber, but who is?) All others in this movie: Evening were very good, although I would like Glen Close was over and I thought the character was alittle too dramatic Buddy. This is one more girls than for boys the movie, but good to see his mother or his daughter, and perhaps start some dialog going. The difficulty is that one of the parents really know as a "person"! |
| Wow, what a waste of acting talent. My husband and I sat there, while thinking, this has to improve, these actresses are too good to be wasting their time on this shit. Unattractive characters, trite script, and a languid pace for over two hours. I really could not hack it and left to do the grocery shopping (cats to be more attractive than this film). Husband and confirmed it does not improve - at the time Buddy was killed, were all those who wish to be hit by a car and end their miserable lives. It would be infinitely more entertaining. Beautiful scenery and customs can not maintain this life. |
| Ann Lord is on his deathbed. The symptoms of his illness, or possibly the side effects of medications you are taking, are unreliable flashbacks to the 50s, and his best friend's wedding. Clever use of scripts little (witness, memories, flashbacks) to introduce twists and surprises, but it does not. 'Night' has been compared to the work of Douglas Sirk, but the similarity is limited to a period and the adjustment between the rich and bright. Its powerful romances are not hindered by having to go back to bed every few minutes, they were not ridiculous CGI with moths and fireflies. They manage to cope with real problems and portray the true feelings, even in the setting of unrealistic and makes great opera. The large, mostly female cast includes some big names, and all of them, large and small, the best of themselves with the finest materials that have to work. Meryl Streep has a cameo role and comes to deliver the line of what could be the subtitle of the Evening Drama "Nothing is as important as we think it is." 'Night' is not as important as it thinks it is. |
