Julia Roberts and Mrs Watson, a professor of art history at an all girls college (Wellesly) in the first 50 years, gives a surprisingly good performance backed by some of the leading actresses in Mona Lisa Smile film today! Ms. Watson is trying to change its students the ideals of why a woman should go to college. At that time, no matter how well an excellent woman, she was expected to marry and be a housewife ideal. Although Ms. Watson has become extremely popular with students, the school board do not see it that way and tries to impose restrictions on it. Therefore, Ms. Watson can be adjusted and further education or adhere to their beliefs and be out of a job.
Well, I will admit, not seeing the whole DVD film Mona Lisa Smile because I thought that was a bit dragging, and only all-star cast was monitored for nearly three-fifths of it, that's how much I did see. The story is intended to be placed in the 1950s, about a free spirited teacher Katherine Ann Watson (Julia Roberts), who has accepted a position teaching art history the prestigious Wellesley College. Before that bonds really well with not only his love of art, but the students themselves. They include Betty Warren (Kirsten Dunst), Joan Brandwyn (The Bourne Trilogy Julia Stiles), Giselle Levy (Maggie Gyllenhaal) and Connie Baker (Ginnifer Goodwin). I lost track of the story, which was why I switched channels when it was, but apparently (I have lost something) Watson teaching methods are unorthodox, and all students are seeking the right man who wants married, but I sincerely do not know. Also starring 300 of the bill as Dunbar Dominic West, Juliet Stevenson as Amanda Armstrong Marcia Gay Harden of Flubber as Nancy Abbey John Slattery and Paul Moore. See what I did was very good, but definitely need to see again a true opinion, I'll leave it as is. Was appointed to the Golden Globe for Best Original Song for Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin "The heart of every girl" (which I do not think I've heard). Okay!
I like Julia Roberts at least in his earlier films, now that I like is playing more and flawed characters, as the new Professor of Art History at Wellesley College in 1953 "Mona Lisa Smile." And the title does not refer to it, but is embedded in comments in the script on the painting of the Mona Lisa. Not everything is good in this film, which more closely reflects real life for many of the modern romantic comedy. This is NOT a romantic comedy, but includes several ballads, and there are some funny parts. Is more serious drama about the life and growth, both from the perspective of students, and the new teacher. I bought the DVD, the picture and sound are fine, and there are several interesting extras on the achievement of this film, and the work done for the correct period. I do not share many negative comments about this movie. It is a good theater, it deserves a repeat viewing or twice a year. It is not simply a "Dead Poet's Society" for girls. To call what is ignored by all the fines, points on this singular film.
My grandchildren like to watch movies over and over again. With Mona Lisa Smile, I am with them. This is a DVD movie Mona Lisa Smile to be lifted and that make you smile. Some reviewers on this site claim the DVD movie Mona Lisa Smile has a liberal agenda. Well, if you want your liberal young ladies to consider all their options and be able to reach for the stars - if they so wish, and then you can disagree. Label me with an "L". Recent films that I will see again include Groundhog Day, In America, The Emperor's Club, and In & Out. If you liked most of them see this movie. You will not be disappointed. And do not miss the end credits, do the part of the song "The Heart of Every Girl." The older generation really relate.
This is the kind of film: Mona Lisa Smile that is easy to bread, but deserves better. Yes, the premise is familiar, the plot is formula, the characters seem to have known before. But ... "The devil is in the details," as they say, and this image has just enough surprises, charming enough, just enough to act well worth seeing. Movies do not have to be real to be useful, you just need to be about real things. The questions "Mona Lisa Smile" covers are still very much with us, and may cause considerable debate in his home. This Mona Lisa Smile Comedy film is so respectful of its subject matter and well-executed enough to make it much better way to spend your time than most of what is out there now. I do not think the sourpusses, this is a good'un.
1st seen 4/4/2004 - 5 of 10 (Dir-Mike Newell): Formulas and teachers pleasant DivX Movie Mona Lisa Smile with Julia Roberts as a good teacher. The only difference between this film: Mona Lisa Smile and many others about a teacher who changes students' lives for the better is supposed to occur in an all girls school (you can say "Dead Poets Soceity 'for women). Roberts is watchable as always, but that's all. The stories of students is much more interesting, but not enough screen time is given for this and just getting very surfacy DivX film Mona Lisa Smile about life and love in the early 50's for girls. It is a pity because the subject, the changing role of women in society, seems to be given second place to the stars and their actions. It is possible that because I am a man, the story does not grab me like it should have, but I could not change genders just for this review. My best advice is to try and see if you like and disagree with me if you want, but this is my interpretation of this "could have been a good DVD movie Mona Lisa Smile that was not.
