It is a couple of years in the future... The highways of Australia are ruled by violent gangs who have turned the highways into a battleground as they loot gasoline and terrorize the innocent. Max Rockatansky is a policeman who had everything... Until, a murderous motorcycle gang led by the evil Toecutter burns his partner Jim Goose to death and murders his wife and son, after Max killed their leader 'The Knight Rider'. Loosing his rocker, Max decides to take the law into his own hands as he sets out to get his revenge on the motorcycle gang and become the road warrior known as 'Mad Max'.

An astonishing achievement given the low budget was still impressed with Mad Max as a tense, violent and exciting work of Pulp Fiction. Granted, the pace slackens from time to time, but this is a great B-movie with extra punch thanks to some exciting sequences and persecution kinetic editing and camera work. Police officer Max (Mel Gibson), is not really crazy until near the end, but even from the beginning of his silence, intense behavior suggests that it is a little nervous, to establish "a couple of years from now, the roads Australia are the battleground for police and a sadistic motorcycle gang led by the Toecutter (Hugh Keays savage execution-Byrne). Things are too dangerous for Max, which leaves his wife and child, but their old enemies are not far behind, leading to a dramatic conclusion of great importance. It is a little rough around the edges, and the bombastic soundtrack of Brian May (most certainly not the Queen guitarist of the same name ) is a little too much when the action sequences of punctuation, but this is a very good start for an even better series with Mad Max 2.
