| I often feel like a It's a Free World... movie that somehow weakens ten examination and arguments, but in my humble opinion, this latest work of Ken Loach on the ground is absolutely! The most welcome is the nuance and subtlety. Nothing is black and white, the characters are complex and sometimes show a total disregard for humanity and empathy on touching others, making a strong point of the complexity of the situation at hand. The plot is relatively simple, but the small exchanges between characters that seem irrelevant carry much of humanity to the film. Kierston hesitation as Angie is absolutely gorgeous and every other "actors" (professional or not) is in the field. A moving, honest, brave yet depressing masterpiece! |
| I had the opportunity to attend a screening of the DivX Movie It's a Free World... at the Toronto Film Festival and have nothing but great things to say about it. The DVD film It's a Free World... follows Angie as she struggles to find herself in the world and look after his young son. After being fired from his job that it takes to start a recruitment agency for cheap labor to put England in the countries of Eastern Europe. While their intentions are good to learn throughout the It's a Free World... Drama film how difficult it is to keep things legitimate and safe. Ken Loach does an amazing job of carrying out this story. Sends a strong message on immigration and labor without preaching. The story is essentially told from the viewpoint of the companies through Angie and shows the logical steps to reduce their costs while at the same time as inexcusable. The It's a Free World... Drama is gritty and dirty, even looking for that fits perfectly into the lower abdomen that London is trying to show. Finally, the DVD movie It's a Free World... begins and ends with the dynamic behavior of unknown Kierston Wareing. Fortunately, she was involved in the selection because if there was I would not have been able to believe that he was acting. A true star performance that requires nuance and force. She created a true character of the decisions that never seems forced or artificial.
